About Leo Baeck Institute London Fellowships

The Leo Baeck Institute London has a long tradition of funding post-graduate research in German-Jewish history and culture, and will continue to do so in its new partnership with Birkbeck University of London. Currently we have:

  • Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme—Administered by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, and the Leo Baeck Institute London, the The Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme provides funding for doctoral candidates pursuing research into the history and culture of German-speaking Jewry, applications due in February. 

 

OUR SISTER INSTITUTES' FELLOWSHIPS

  • David Baumgardt Memorial Fellowship—research grant for academics whose work is connected with the writings of Professor David Baumgardt or his scholarly interests, including Ethics, Wissenschaft des Judentums and the Modern Intellectual History of German-speaking Jewry, applications due in November.
  • Fritz Halbers Fellowship—project support for Ph.D. candidates whose research is connected with the culture and history of German-speaking Jewry, applications due in November.
  • Gerald Westheimer Career Development Fellowship—personal grants for academics early in their careers (prior to receiving tenure), applications due in March.
  • LBI/DAAD Fellowships— Financial assistance is provided to American doctoral students for dissertation research and to young academics for the preparation of a scholarly essay or book. Applications are accepted throughout the year.
